Before coming to SCORE for mentoring, Kamy Eliassi had found success as a managing director at an international logistics company. But he still felt he hadn’t reached his full potential: he wanted to execute plans faster to pull ahead of the competition, and to get better at hiring the right talent for the job.
Eliassi chose his SCORE mentor, Terry Thompson, because of his leadership experience — Thompson had most recently been executive vice president and general manager at a leading fuel management company — as well as his 50 plus articles on business and management.
Their partnership was beneficial not only for Eliassi’s immediate business goals, but for his transformation into an author and leader for other millennials facing similar challenges.
Eliassi and Thompson collaborated on a book, Millennial Leadership, which was published in 2016. Eliassi now runs his own consulting firm, GlobalView Consulting, which provides leadership coaching based on personality traits and behavioral psychology.
As a millennial, Eliassi knew he had a set of assets to offer the business world that were unique to his generation. But in order to be competitive, he wanted to combine them with the knowledge and expertise of previous generations. As a Baby Boomer with more than 25 years of senior management experience, Thompson helped him do just that.
Eliassi started by reading each of Thompson’s articles – one per week – and then meeting with Thompson to discuss what he had learned. Their collaboration on Millennial Leadership grew out of those meetings.
