Banks Look to Los Angeles SCORE as a Benefit to the Los Angeles Community
Los Angeles, CA (July 31, 2017) – SCORE Los Angeles (losangeles.score.org) can be a great pathway to success and approaching banks when looking for money to start a small business. Many new startups don’t know all that SCORE LA can do to help entrepreneurs and small businesses get going in the right direction.
SCORE LA, a resource partner of the SBA, is part of a nationwide nonprofit organization (320 chapters and 11,000 volunteer mentors). SCORE nurtures small businesses to help them get established and grow by providing free business resource information, free expert business mentoring, and low-cost educational business workshops. SCORE LA has been doing this successfully for many years but wanted to provide even better service to our dynamic city. SCORE LA well knows that Greater Los Angeles is sprawling, with varied patterns of populations. In 2016, this led to its new “sub-chapter” concept in order to allow the organization to offer programs better matched to the particular population(s) of each geographic area.
What makes SCORE LA a benefit to the Los Angeles community? A number of banks have found SCORE LA mentoring beneficial to the community in helping startups and building businesses. Theresa DonLucus, Vice President, Community Reinvestment for City National Bank who has been acquainted with SCORE LA since 2006 acknowledged SCORE LA’s continuing work: “Its dedication to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed; promoting economic development with support to small business entrepreneurs. City National Bank is proud to invest in the communities where we work, live and conduct business. Our support of SCORE LA helps to contribute to the economic and cultural vitality of our communities, which has a positive, measurable impact on the growth and prosperity of those communities, but it also makes good business sense for us as well”.
